About
Built alongside distributors, not at them
Carrot did not start as a product. It started as the software one Australian wholesaler needed and could not buy, built against their real catalogue, their real pricing and their real customers. It became a platform because the second distributor needed most of the same thing.
What we think
Four things we have decided
Independents lose on tooling, not on service
The national distributors do not win because they care more. They win because a chef can order from them at 11pm on a phone, and because their credit terms are handled by a system rather than by someone chasing. That gap is software, and software is closable.
The ERP should stay where it is
Every failed distribution project we have watched started with a migration. Carrot reads from the system you already run and writes back to it. Your accountant's world does not change.
Say what is built and what is not
Our integrations page carries a status against every connector, including the ones that are still on paper. We would rather lose a deal at the first call than at the go-live.
The person placing the order is the customer
Not the procurement manager, not the buyer on paper. The chef at 5am with wet hands and one bar of signal. If it does not work for them, nothing else about the platform matters.
Who builds it
A small team, close to the work
We are a small software team in Australia that has spent years building operational systems for distribution and wholesale businesses, including ERP integrations, warehouse tooling and trade portals.
Being small is the trade. You will not get a twenty-person implementation team or a global support desk. You will get direct access to the people who wrote the code, and changes shipped in days rather than filed as feature requests.
Come and argue with us about it
If you run a distribution business and think we have got something wrong on this page, we would genuinely like to hear it.
